The Challenge

Powered by Wcities, Eventseeker provides specially curated lifestyle content in the form of three guides: city, event and movie.

Its city guide framework was utilized by mobile strategist and app developer InnoviMobile to create Marriott’s own line of city guides for its global lifestyle brand Renaissance Hotels.

Having already created a mobile app for its highly touted city guide, Eventseeker tasked InnoviMobile to create an app for its event guide, which provides current, expertly curated listings.  Eventseeker needed a quick, effective go-to-market plan and partner.

Eventseeker engaged InnoviMobile to create a mobile experience that would harness the native capabilities of a mobile device in order to add a layer of personalization on top of the carefully curated content.

The Solution

InnoviMobile developed an iPhone app that leveraged the native power of the iOS framework in order to create a personalized mobile experience.

The app allows the user to:

  • keep track of event news,
  • populate a “My Events” tab that keeps track of events the user has marked indicating interest,
  • a tab of events, bands, venues, etc. that the user has tracked via mobile device or marked to follow,
  • and a “Discover” tab that allows the user to actively browse and search for events.

Once granted permission, the app also associates data from other social apps that the mobile user spends time on, like Facebook and Twitter, by suggesting content based on the user’s likes. This enables the app to refine the user’s profile and further customize his or her experience.

“We wanted the app to be relevant to every user.  There are hundreds of events happening, and we wanted to show you the ones just for you and which of your friends you should invite to go with you,” said Mr. Campbell.

The Results

InnoviMobile quickly created a mobile app that enhanced the experience of Eventseeker’s event guide content and functionality.

Eventseeker’s mobile strategy is a big part of its goal to expand its user base well into the millions (it’s just shy of a million now).

The app is free and devoid of sponsored listings, although they may be incorporated into future iterations.
